Altec Lansing debuts the T612, a digital audio system made for the iPhone and new iPod family of products. The T612 provides brilliant sound for music and multimedia, while also featuring iPhone incoming call support. If a call comes in while music is playing, the iPhone gives priority to the call by pausing the music. Designed after the successful M602 digital audio player, the T612 features powerful neodymium speakers and XdB bass-enhancement technology for exceptionally audio reproduction. The T612 play and charge all iPhone and new-generation iPod models. In addition, the rear of the T612 provides a standard auxiliary-in jack for connection to older iPod models as well as other audio devices and it comes equipped with a wireless remote for iPod navigation functionalities. Available in February 2008, the Altec Lansing T612 audio system will be sold for $199.95 (U.S. MSRP).

Sherwood introduced the flagship receiver in their high-performance Newcastle line-up. Rated at 100W RMS per channel for each of its 7 powered channels, the Sherwood R-972 fully supports HDMI 1.3b standard with four HDMI inputs, scales all video to 1080p via the Silicon Optix Reon processor, decodes lossless audio (Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio) via dual TI 32-bit DSP chips, uses a Dual Mode RF plus IR remote control. The Sherwood's R-972 has a sleek design with its black aluminum face-plate, spun aluminum knobs, 2-line VFD display and modesty door. Ready for home, the R-972 brings full multi-source and triple-zone playback capability. MSRP for the R-972 is $1799.95 and it will be available in March, 2008.

Sony unveiled two compact stereo systems made for iPod, the CMT-BX20i and CMT-BX50BTi models. These new music systems offer a sleek and simple design with a glossy black finish and vivid fluorescent display. The front-loading CD player supports CD-R, CD-RW and MP3 Playback, along with an audio-in jack to connect your digital music player or PC, in addition to the iPod dock on the top. Also the system has a AM/FM tuner with 30 station presets and a remote control. The CMT-BX20i micro shelf system will be available in February for about $130 while the CMT-BX50BTi which is equipped with Bluetooth stereo (A2DP) technology so you can wirelessly stream CD-quality music to other Bluetooth stereo devices will be priced at $180.

The Sound Wall RHT-S10 home theater stand with an included surround sound system is the first Sony’s 5.1-channel surround sound system to offer built-in speakers, an amplifier and a subwoofer in one slim speaker package. The sound system is attached to a free-standing wall facade that also serves as a mount for a television. Wires are hidden behind the wall and connected to an integrated A/V rack anchored at the base of the media stand. The system delivers a total of 350W through five speakers by a S-Master digital amplifier and it incorporates a subwoofer built into the unit. The RHT-S10 has four digital audio inputs (three optical, one coaxial), two analog audio inputs, an LFE output and pass-through HDMI. The Sound Wall RHT-S10 system will be available in Spring but no word on price yet.

Sony announced its two latest HD Radio products. They include the XDR-F1HD tuner and the XDR-S10HDiP (pictured) HD radio model with iPod compatibility. The XDR-F1HD tuner transforms an existing audio system with an auxiliary input into an HD Radio receiver. The high fidelity HD Radio technology provides clear digital radio reception and FM multicasting. On its LCD display, the XDR-F1HD displays music information, including artist names and song titles plus radio station names and genres, where available, the unit also includes a wireless remote and will be available in March for about $100. The XDR-S10HDiP adds an additional iPod dock designed to work with most iPod models, the included wireless remote features full access to the iPod player menu, as well as to radio tuning and volume functions. The unit also charges the iPod while it's docked and provides clock radio functionality. Sony's XDR-S10HDiP model will be available this summer for $180.

Sony unveiled at the CES the MDR-NC500D, the world's first digital noise cancelling headphones. This headphones use digital technology to more accurately reduce stress-inducing noise from planes, trains and busses, while providing a high-quality audio experience. Sony claims the MDR-NC500D can reduce up to 99 percent of ambient noise at 160HZ, which is the peak frequency of a jet engine. These headphones use a unique digital noise canceling software engine and three digital filters located in the built-in digital signal processor, which has been specifically tuned for effective noise reduction in airplane, train/ bus, or office sound environments. The internal lithium-ion battery lasts for up to 16 hours, also have an external battery box holds two AA batteries for when there is no access to a wall plug. The MDR-NC500D headphones will be available in February for about $400.

Audio-Technica announced the introduction of its ATH-ANC3 QuietPoint active noise-cancelling in-ear headphones, which combine exceptional 85% noise cancellation with outstanding sound quality, comfort and portability. The ATH-ANC3 employs miniature microphones that detect environmental noise to block 85% of outside noise with a noise cancellation over a wide frequency range, unlike some in-ear headphones that actively cancel low frequencies only. It features a compact control unit with a monitor switch that mutes all functions, to let users hear important outside announcements and conversations and it can be used without batteries. Audio Technica's ATH-ANC3 headphones come with with three sizes of ear tips (small, medium and large), a carrying case, an adjustable cable and additional extension cable, an airline adapter for connection to in-flight entertainment systems, a clothing clip and an AAA battery. It will be available in spring 2008 at a U.S. MSRP of $169.95.

The new Philips' Streamium WACS7500 hub and WAS7500 extender is a complete solution for who want a music streaming system. With stylish framing, the 80GB HDD stores up to 1,500 CDs, has an LCD screen that displays track information and USB connectivity and can connect to up to five wireless extenders through Ethernet or WiFi. The WAS7500 stations allow users to broadcast the same track to each room simultaneously or move from room to room as the music follows, also it supports an optional iPod dock. The Streamium hub can manage up to five independent streams of content at once, sending a different stream to each extender and with the ethernet connection you can backup the system's hard disk, upgrade features or download existing tracks from a PC. Both hub and extender will be available in April, at $999 for the WACS7500 and $299 for the extender.

Philips showcased its new blu-ray disc player at the CES, priced at only $349 the BDP7200 is Philips' first BonusView compliant BD player (Blu-ray profile v1.1). It features Full HD 1080p resolution at native 24 FPS, Deep Color functionality to eliminate on-screen color banding, picture-in-picture capability, graphical enhancements and multi-languages for on-screen display. The BDP7200 offers a fully digital interface with the audio/video EasyLink HDMI Consumer Electronics Control protocols (CEC1), which allows easy control of connected devices with one remote. This BD player also ensures the playback of your older DVD libraries while upscaling them to 1080p.
