Sling Media unveils Top-of-Line Slingbox PRO-HD

Sling Media announced its next generation Slingbox PRO-HD, a revolutionary new product that is capable of streaming HD content from a home television source, including over the air HD digital signals, HDTV cable or satellite receivers, or HD DVR’s, to any computer in and around the house.

With the Slingbox PRO-HD you can connect and control up to four video sources, including your DVR, digital cable, satellite receiver, and DVD player and with the built-in TV Tuner you can access to your basic cable line-up without changing channels on your home TV. For streaming HD content you need to buy an HD Connect cable separately.

Sling Media Slingbox PRO-HD will be available for purchase in the third quarter of 2008 for a suggested retail price of $399.99.

CES 2008 - Logitech Z Cinéma 2.1-Channel Computer Audio System

Tech Digest got its hands on the exclusive 2.1 speakers kit from Logitech which will be normally unveiled in the following days at the CES. The Logitech Z Cinéma contains two bass-reflex satellite speakers (each containing a three-inch laser-tuned driver), a subwoofer (with an eight-inch high-excursion driver) and complete control pod (aka, remote control).

According to Logitech, this 2.1-channel system is perfect for any PC or Mac with at least a six-channel sound card, and contains SRS TruSurround HD, which will give you a surround sound effects with only two satellites. Out at the end of January, the system is priced at Ł249.99.

Genesis Announces the Reference-series Amplifiers

Genesis recently announced the availability of the Reference-series amplifiers. Better than the previous M60 valve amplifiers according to Genesis, this series still has the musicality and tonal colors of a tube amplifier but the control and dynamics of solid-state. The Reference-series features a simple and sleek design able to hold high-current and wide-bandwidth speakers whatever its impedance. In addition, the new amplifiers had to be capable of driving any model in the Genesis range, from the Genesis 7.1 petite to the towering flagship - the Genesis 1.1.

The Genesis Reference amplifier is custom-configured and built to order. A basic version stereo power amplifier with 180W per channel will retail for $3,600 and Statement-level monoblock power amplifiers are $19,000 for a 360W pair.

The Genesis 2 version 2 loudspeaker system is the successor of the Genesis 2 released back in 1993. The G2 is a high-end four-tower system featuring separate midrange/tweeter "wings" and servo-controlled woofer towers. This separation allows the mid/high frequency panels to be placed to optimize soundstage and imaging for the listening position, and the bass towers to be placed for smooth and extended bass response within the room.

The G2.2 is equipped with a completely redesigned servo-controlled bass amplifier with an extended bass response down to 16Hz and a new class-D module, as well as the cabinet which incorporates new midrange/tweeter "wings" made of solid cast acrylic and 8-inch woofers with higher displacement and lower distortion. This loudspeaker system boasts awesome characteristics such as a frequency response of 16Hz - 36KHz, a sensitivity of 91dB and 1000W of power handling capability into 4 ohms.

The Genesis 2.2 loudspeaker retails for US$63,000 in High Gloss Black. Other colors of acrylic may be possible on special order. They will be available through authorized Genesis dealers and distributors worldwide.

NAD Electronics is getting ready to unveil for the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas its new products and audio accessories. One of these is the NAD IPD-1 iPod docking station, priced at around $150 but after all it's quite expensive for a simple ipod dock.

However, the NAD IPD-1 is designed to work with all NAD A/V products, and it should work with non-NAD products as well. This dock performs four functions, it sends stereo audio signals via gold plated RCA jacks, it sends video signals via S-Video from your iPod video to your A/V receiver or TV, it charges your iPod battery and it features a "meta-data" function compatible with T 775, T 785 and T 175 NAD receivers which display on your video display, remote controllable operation using the NAD illuminated learning remote control.

The French company Carat presents the i57, an all-in-one Hifi component combines all the components of your audiophile system in a compact cabinet: a CD player, a AM/FM radio tuner and a stereo amplifier.

The unit benefits from the same design care as the separated elements of Carat 57 series with a black finish and a brushed aluminum touch. The i57 holds a high-precision CD player with Burr-Brown PCM1732 24 bits/96kHz DACs, a AM/FM RDS radio tuner and a stereo amplifier delivers 2x 50W / 8Ω or 2x 80W / 4Ω with a distortion less than 1%. The i57 is equipped with bass, treble and balance settings and all basic play controls can be done through the joystick on the front panel. Carat did not forget about MP3 users because the i57 has a 3.5mm jack auxiliary input. This nice audiophile system retails for around 1,200€.

The new MA7000 stereo integrated amplifier is the largest and, at 250W per channel into 8, 4, and 2 ohms, the most powerful integrated amplifier McIntosh has ever offered.
