Yamaha expands its product range with five new models in its RX-V series of home theater receivers. These A/V receivers feature HDMI, 192kHz/24-bit DACs, surround sound, CINEMA DSP, built-in radio tuner and are compatible with both Apple's iPod and Bluetooth via optional Yamaha's docks. RX-V363 - 5.1 channel, 2x HDMI, 100 Watts per channel. Price: $229.95. RX-V463 - 5.1 channel, 2x HDMI, 105 Watts per channel, YPAO for automatic speaker setup, XM and SIRIUS ready. Price: $349.95. RX-V563 - 7.1 channel, 2x HDMI, 90 Watts per channel, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital TrueHD, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio and DTS-HD MA decoding, YPAO, XM and SIRIUS ready. Price: $449.95. | Sony STR-DG Series of A/V Receivers Now Offering HD Performance |

Sony has updated its STR-DG series of A/V receivers with four new models offering high-definition performance, easy set-up and control through a unique icon-driven menu system. All models include 1080/24p True Cinema video pass-through, advanced audio codec support, and upscaling of all standard definition video sources to 1080p via HDMI. STR-DG520 - 5.1 channel, 2x HDMI, 100 Watts per channel. Available in March for $200. STR-DG720 - 7.1 channel, 3x HDMI, 105 Watts per channel, XM ready. Available in March for $300. STR-DG820 - 7.1 channel, 4x HDMI, 110 Watts per channel, Dolby Digital Plus, TrueHD, dts High Resolution Audio and dts HD MA decoding, xvYCC technology, XM ready. Available in May for $400. | Sony DAV-HDX576WF Home Theater System with S-AIR Technology |

The DAV-HDX576WF theater system from Sony was designed to match the BRAVIA flat TVs with the adjustable-height front speakers. This HTiB features the recently launched S-AIR technology that allows easy wireless multi-room set up without the need of IP addresses, WEP keys and pin codes. It includes one S-AIR Air Station receiver/speaker (AIR-SA10) and a wireless rear speaker kit (WAHT-SA10). The integrated amplifier doubles as an integrated five-disc DVD/CD player with full 1080p upscaling via HDMI and plays back of DVDs, CDs, SACDs, DivX and MP3/JPEG files, and it has optical and coaxial digital inputs. Other features include Digital Media Port interface, BRAVIA Sync, Digital Cinema Auto-Calibration and Dialogue Enhancer function. This model will be available in March for about $500.

The Sony DAV-HDX275, DAV-HDX277WC and DAV-HDX279W 5.1-ch. home theater in a box systems are ready for the newest Sony's S-AIR technology that delivers a wireless multi-room solution without complicated set-up requirements, such as IP addresses, WEP keys and pin codes. The DAV-HDX275 is offering an option to add a pair of rear wireless speakers (WHAT-SA10) and an S-AIR transmitter (EZW-T100) with S-AIR Air Stations (AIR-SA10). The DAV-HDX277WC model includes one S-AIR Air Station receiver/speaker with an option to add a rear wireless speakers, while the DAV-HDX279W model includes the rear wireless speakers with an option to add S-AIR Air Station receiver/speakers for multi-room audio. Also an integrated five-disc DVD/CD player provides full 1080p upscaling via HDMI and plays back DVDs, CDs, SACDs, DivX and MP3/JPEG files, and has optical and coaxial digital inputs. The Sony HT-7200DH Home Theater in a Box system offers 900W RMS of 5.1-channel surround sound. The receiver (STR-KG800) supports full 1080p video and uncompressed audio via three HDMI inputs, and it doubles as a DVD player with upscaling to 1080p via an HDMI output. Other features include Digital Cinema Auto Calibration, Portable Audio Enhancer and a Digital Media Port interface. The Sony HT-7200DH HTiB will be available in May for about $500.

Sony has unveiled the HT-SS2300, a 5.1-channel home theater system which aims high-definition TVs and Blu-ray players. Supporting full HD video and up to eight channels of uncompressed audio, the Sony's HT-SS2300 features digital connectivity with 1080p-capable HDMI inputs, in addition to optical and coaxial inputs. Also the receiver is able to delivers 1,000W RMS of power and it was designed to match the new line of Sony’s Blu-ray disc players. It will be available this summer for $400.

Sony's new HT-CT100 system, is the most affordable model of the company which comprises a sound bar. This, was designed to complement high-definition televisions and Blu-ray Disc players. At 250W RMS, this 3.1 channel home theater system includes a sound bar and separate subwoofer, which delivers realistic surround sound using the S-Force PRO Front Surround Sound technology eliminating the need for rear speakers. The receiver features full HD video support and eight channels of uncompressed audio, Digital Media Port, Digital Cinema Auto Calibration (DCAC), three 1080p HDMI inputs. The Sony HT-CT100 will be released in March for approximately $300.

The Sony's SRS-ZX1 speakers will finally reached the rest of the world this April. Released in October 2007 in Japan, these multimedia speakers made in aluminum feature a unique duct design called "Mobius" that reduces the wind noise to deliver deceptively large, crisp sound from speakers so small, according to Sony. The SRS-ZX1 delivers 2x 20W and includes a digital signal processor which shifts bass sounds in the inaudible frequency range to the audible range, resulting in an enriched bass sound. Price is $400, that's maybe a bit expensive for stereo computer speakers only.

| Sony to launch new PS-LX300USB Turntable with USB Output |

Sony today unveiled its new PS-LX300USB turntable with USB output. Due in March for a price of $150 this turntable provides fully automatic operation of vinyl playback at 33-1/3 and 45 rpm speeds. It offers a belt drive system for reduced motor noise and rotational stability, in addition to a static balance tone arm with a bonded diamond stylus for precise tracking. A supplied moving-magnet phonograph cartridge and built-in phonograph pre-amp allows for compatibility with A/V receivers without a phonograph input. The turntable comes packaged with Sound Forge Audio Studio software for simple professional-quality audio editing and production on a home computer, allowing for MP3 playback on portable music players.
