According to Pioneer's European website, 4 Blu-ray disc players will be introduced by the company. The new line-up will include the BDP-LX91 (LX Line Reference Blu-ray disc player with BD-Live / Profile 2.0 support), BDP-LX08 (LX Line "Designer" Blu-ray disc player with BonusView / Profile 1.1 support), BDP-LX71 (LX Line Blu-ray disc player with BonusView / Profile 1.1 support) and the BDP-51FD (Blu-ray disc player with BonusView / Profile 1.1 support).

The BDP-LX71 will be available in September. The BDP-51FD and the BDP-LX08 will arrive in October and the BDP-LX91 later on in winter. Price for each model remains a mystery.

For the $70 less than the Playstation 3, the Insignia NS-BRDVD Blu-ray player is a good alternative. Available at BestBuy for $329, the NS-BRDVD has 1080p HDMI output, SD card slot, built-in decoders for next-generation Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD high-resolution surround and Dolby TrueHD. Outputs include 1x stereo audio, 1x composite video, 1x component video, 1x digital optical audio, 1x digital coaxial audio and 1x HDMI.

And for this price don't expect to get a sweet-looking player, it's just a basic rectangular-shaped player with a cheap front panel.

Denon lowers price on high-end Blu-ray players by launching the DVD-1800BD player. This player incorporates HDMI v1.3a with Deep Color and Bonus View support, Dolby Digital Plus/Dolby True HD/DTS-HD/DTS-HD MA decoders, 1080p upconversion and high-class Burr-Brown DACs.

The Denon DVD-1800BD is scheduled for availability in October 2008 for $749 instead of $1,199 for the actual entry-level model.

Here is the newest Blu-ray recorder from Hitachi, called the Wooo DV-BH250, it will be available early this month in Japan, but price tag is still unknown. The player features a 250GB HDD, HDMI output (of course) and the device is AVCREC compatible, which means this player is able to record high-definition content straight on DVD-R/RW/RAM formats besides the BD-R/RE formats.

Marantz will release soon its first blu-ray player, the BD8002. Unveiled at the last CES in Las Vegas, this high-end player will be priced at $1,999. Marantz equipped it with a 10-bit Silicon Optix Realta video processor, HDMI 1.3 connection as well as the latest in HD audio decoding including Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio. The player also offers a SD-card reader, analog audio outputs and it even plays your old DVDs with upconversion feature or CDs.

Pioneer has introduced a couple of new Blu-ray disc players in its Elite line, the BDP-05FD and BDP-51FD models. These players have the ability to decode all advanced audio formats such as Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS HD and DTS HD Master. Both features 1080p HDMI 1.3a technology, professional quality Wolfson 12-bit D/A converters, and DVD playback with 1080p up-conversion.

The Elite BDP-05FD comes with a 2-year warranty instead of one year for the BDP-51FD, and features gold-plated connection ports, capacitance touch key buttons and an aluminum front panel that will have audiophiles and videophiles eager to use and display within their high end home theater décor.

The Pioneer Elite BDP-05FD and BDP-51FD BonusView Blu-ray disc players will begin shipping this summer for suggested prices of $799 and $599, respectively.

New Sony's BDZ-T90 blu-ray recorder has improved the video quality recording as well as the addition of True Cinema 24p support, 500GB HDD, two analog/digital TV tuners and Sony Room Link support. The BDZ-T90 can record directly on a Blu-ray or on the built-in HDD in MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 in a choice of seven different quality settings. Also, this Blu-ray recorder includes HDMI output, S-Video, RCA and optical.

Panasonic UK offers two blu-ray movies, Ratatouille and Cars, when you buy a DMP-BD30EG-K Blu-ray spinner. This blu-ray player features the final standard profile 1.1, full HD 1080/24P output, HDMI version 1.3 with Deep Colour and incorporates a SD Card Slot.

Priced at £349.99 this special offer went "temporarily out of stock" fast but it will be back soon.

HD-DVD price drop continue, the Toshiba HD-A3 can be found now for a mere $89.99 at Crutchfield. The player comes with 2 free HD-DVD titles, 300 and The Bourne Identity. The HD-A3 not only read HD-DVD discs, it also supports the playback of standard DVD, DVD-R/-RW as well as music CDs and CD-R/RW.

At this price the Toshiba HD-A3 may be one of the cheapest DVD player with 720p/1080i video upscaling through HDMI.

Sony updated its Blu-ray disc player line today with two new models, the BDP-S350 and BDP-S550. Both models support Bonus View and BD-Live interactive features, include USB connectivity for external storage, AVCHD discs encoded support, 1080p HDMI, DVD upscaling to 1080p and HD audio processing for Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital plus. The BDP-S550 adds DTS-HD High Resolution Audio and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding.

Sony's BDP-S350 ships this summer for about $400 and BDP-S550 will be available this fall for about $500.
