Sony has unveiled the HT-SS2300, a 5.1-channel home theater system which aims high-definition TVs and Blu-ray players. Supporting full HD video and up to eight channels of uncompressed audio, the Sony's HT-SS2300 features digital connectivity with 1080p-capable HDMI inputs, in addition to optical and coaxial inputs. Also the receiver is able to delivers 1,000W RMS of power and it was designed to match the new line of Sony’s Blu-ray disc players. It will be available this summer for $400.

Sony's new HT-CT100 system, is the most affordable model of the company which comprises a sound bar. This, was designed to complement high-definition televisions and Blu-ray Disc players. At 250W RMS, this 3.1 channel home theater system includes a sound bar and separate subwoofer, which delivers realistic surround sound using the S-Force PRO Front Surround Sound technology eliminating the need for rear speakers. The receiver features full HD video support and eight channels of uncompressed audio, Digital Media Port, Digital Cinema Auto Calibration (DCAC), three 1080p HDMI inputs. The Sony HT-CT100 will be released in March for approximately $300.

| Yamaha released YHT-690 & YHT-790 Home Theater Systems |

Yamaha has recently launched a few home theater in a box systems in its YHT series, after the YHT-390 an YHT-590, there are the YHT-690 and YHT-790, priced at $649.95 and $849.95, respectively. Both systems come with the HTR-6140 receiver which boasts 5.1 channels (105 watts x 5), Burr-Brown 192kHz/24-bit DACs, Dolby Digital/Dolby Pro Logic II/DTS decoding, 1080p-compatible HDMI, iPod and Bluetooth compatibility via Yamaha's Docks. The speakers systems delivers the same powers but are different for each system, the YHT-690 employs "regular" speakers with a 100W subwoofer while has flat speakers and a 130W subwoofer with advanced YST II and FD-Bass technology. Also Yamaha's YHT-690 includes a DVD player (DV-S6160) compatible DivX, MP3 and JPEG. It supports USB storage devices and features video up-conversion and HDMI connectivity.

The YHT-390 (pictured) and YHT-590 are the latest entry-level 5.1-channel home theater in a box (HTiB) systems to be introduced by Yamaha. Both models are equipped with the HTR-6130 A/V receiver which features 600W of power (including subwoofer), HDMI switching with 1080p video pass through, 192kHz/24-bit DACs, Dolby Pro Logic/Dolby Pro Logic II/DTS audio decoding, iPod compatibility and built-in FM/AM tuner with 40 presets. The main difference between these two HTiBs are the speakers, the YHT-590 comes with different speakers along with the new YST-FSW050 down-Firing subwoofer. Price for the YHT-390 is $399.95 while the YHT-590 is priced at $549.95.

Sony Japan is going to launch the RHT-G900 in May, its latest integrated home theater Cabinet designed especially for its BRAVIA TVs. This TV rack includes a subwoofer, three built-in speakers, left, center and right channels and delivers 5.1ch surround sound with the "S-Force PRO" technology with a total of 470W. THe RHT-G900 incorporates HDMI inputs, digital audio inputs, digital media port, different preset equalizers and a digital audio decoder compatible Dolby digital, DTS, MPEG-2 AAC and PCM. The RHT-G900 measures 1115x 400x 500mm, weighs about 54kg and supports Sony's BRAVIA TVs up to 46-inch.

Harman-Kardon expands its line of home theater products with the HS 350, a 5.1-channel integrated home theater and music system. It features pixel-by-pixel video processing and upscaling to 720p or 1080i through an HDMI output, a 5x 35W power amplifier featuring Logic 7 and EzSet/EQ technology through five 2-way bookshelf speakers and a 200W powered subwoofer. It should be launched in April with a price of £900.

Bose's system includes 5.1-channel amplifier with built-in surround sound decoders (digital 5.1 and DTS decoding), AM/FM radio tuner with 50 station presets, progressive-scan DVD player which plays the most popular audio and video content including DVD video, CD, CD-R/RW, VCD, PCM, digital 5.1, MP3 files and MPEG-2. Priced at $649 the Denon DHT-488XP home theater system features 5.1 channels speaker system paired with the AVR-488 receiver. The AVR-488 boasts 475W RMS of power (5x 75W + 100W), two HDMI 1.3a inputs with Deep Color and 1080p pass-through (no audio support though) and a 32-bit floating-point digital signal processor provides superior audio and video quality. In addition the receiver is XM-ready and supports the optional iPod dock ASD-1R/3N/3W. To match the AVR-488 Denon has chosen the SYS-57HT speaker system, these speakers are built in MDF wood and include magnetically shieded 3.6" mid-bass driver and 0.75" tweeter, the 8" down-firing subwoofer has a 100W amplifier with volume and cross over frequency adjustment.
