New Yamaha HTR-Series Digital Home Theater Receivers

Yamaha has launched five new A/V receivers from 5.1 to 7.2-channel. This product line comprises the HTR-6130 ($229), HTR-6140 ($349), HTR-6150 ($449), HTR-6160 ($549) and the HTR-6180 ($999).

The low-end HTR-6130 (5x 100W) incorporates 192kHz/24-bit DACs and HDMI switching with 1080p video pass-through while the Yamaha HTR-6140 (5x 105W) offers 1080p-compatible HDMI, Burr-Brown DACs, XM and SIRIUS Satellite Radio ready and YPAO sound optimization. The HTR-6150 (7x 90W) is the 7.1-ch. version of the HTR-6140 which adds multi room capability.

Flagship models, HTR-6150 (7x 95W) and HTR-6160 (7x 105W) are fully compatible High-Definition with Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital TrueHD, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding and include full HD 1080p HDMI. The HTR-6160 also includes analog video (480i or 480p) upscaling to full HD 1080p and HD Radio digital broadcast reception capability.

Other common features are a built-in AM/FM tuner and iPod/Bluetooth compatibility via Yamaha's optional Dock.

New Yamaha YHT-390 & YHT-590 Home Theater in a Box Systems

The YHT-390 (pictured) and YHT-590 are the latest entry-level 5.1-channel home theater in a box (HTiB) systems to be introduced by Yamaha. Both models are equipped with the HTR-6130 A/V receiver which features 600W of power (including subwoofer), HDMI switching with 1080p video pass through, 192kHz/24-bit DACs, Dolby Pro Logic/Dolby Pro Logic II/DTS audio decoding, iPod compatibility and built-in FM/AM tuner with 40 presets.

The main difference between these two HTiBs are the speakers, the YHT-590 comes with different speakers along with the new YST-FSW050 down-Firing subwoofer. Price for the YHT-390 is $399.95 while the YHT-590 is priced at $549.95.

Yamaha released an interesting Bluetooth dock, the YBA-10. This wireless audio receiver that lets you connect to your compatible Yamaha's receiver, supports A2DP audio streaming within a range of 10m from any Bluetooth device such as mobile phones, MP3 players, computers, etc. No word on pricing or availability at this time.

Yamaha TSX-100 Desktop Audio System includes iPod Dock

Yamaha announced its new product made for iPod, the TSX-100 is a "all-in-one" desktop stereo system. It features an FM/AM tuner, a CD player compatible CDs, MP3-CDs and WMA-CDs, an iPod dock with the ability to listen charge your iPod, and view song titles on the front panel display which also double as a timer and clock functions. In addition, the TSX-100 system is able to play other MP3 players than iPod by a 3.5mm mini jack input. The Yamaha TSX-100 delivers 2x 10W of output power and both speakers has the Yamaha's SR-Bass technology that enhances the sound.

The TSX-100 will be available in black or silver color, it will cost about $500 and will hit the Japanese stores in late February.

The system delivers a total of 600W RMS, 5x 100W + subwoofer 100W, supports the decoding of Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II and DTS. Five bass-reflex satellite speakers load dual 2.5" cone woofers and a 0.75" silk dome tweeter, the subwoofer features a 8" cone subwoofer with a 28Hz - 200Hz frequency response. Yamaha Japan announced for the mid-December its new A-S2000 amplifier matching with the CD-S2000 SACD/CD player presented in this news, however the Yamaha A-S200 won't be for everyone because it will cost a mere $1,800 USD.

Yamaha's latest amplifier get a retro design with its brushed aluminium faceplate, the natural wood inserts and the big knobs. It boasts a power output of 2x120 W / 8 Ω or 2x190 W / 4 Ω, thanks to the high-end electronic, built on a circuitry that separates and balances the path of the 2 audio channels for an optimum signal clarity it delivers a signal-to-noise ratio of 120 dB.

The A-S2000 measures 435x137x465mm and weighs 22.7kg for a power consumption of 220W.

Yamaha unveiled its high-end SACD / CD player "CD-S2000" to be released in mid-December for $1,500.

The CD-S2000 adopts an elegant design with a brushed aluminium finish available in grey or black color as well as the remote. It supports the playback of CD-R/RW, SACD, MP3 and WMA files. The player has 1x optical digital output, 1x coaxial digital output, 1x analog XLR, 1x analog RCA output and it measures 435x440x137mm for a weight of 15kg.

This product has been engineered to deliver high quality audio playback, with a symmetrical design construction which results in a negligible total harmonic distortion of 0.0017% (SA-CD) and 0.002% or less (CD).

Yamaha is introducing on November for an undisclosed (but surely expensive) price a new 11.2-channel A/V receiver fully loaded of many features.

The RX-Z11 offers plenty of audio certification such as a Dolby TRUE HD, a Dolby Digital Plus, a DTS HD Master Audio, a Neural Surround THX Technologies and a THX Ultra2 Plus. This receiver gets 5x HDMI 1.3a inputs with the support of 1080p resolution and 2x USB ports (front and rear apnel) for connecting any USB memory devices, portable audio players or USB HDD (FAT32 format, up to 2TB) and the best is that you can connect the RX-Z11 to your PC and access the Internet Radio via LAN.

The amplifier stage is based on symmetrical layout and a new power circuit layout with Low-impedance designed for high quality sound is delivering a total of 1,180W (140W x 7 + 50W x 4) through the 11 discrete channels.
